Second Shoot / gathering my ideas
During this lesson I was told to go into groups and was given a few images to recreate, the session was to concentrate on lighting and angles. I rather enjoyed the challenge of re creating shoots as we were not given instructions but to just simply figure It out ourselves. One thing I found difficult was acknowledging that every time we had to change the angle of the model or the light we had to be very precise using the monitor. ( Such as the picture below).
As you can see it was( exposure)too low
Here are the pictures we chose as a group (our favourite ones) and why
With this portrait our mission was to angle the lighting onto the face, without making it over exposed. Also, to not make the background lighting under exposed. We thought the audience could really see the features on the models face perfectly. With this portrait that we had to reinterpret, the main focus was including shadows as well as just focusing on lighting on the face. After a lot of trial and error with the lights, we found out that we had to use a large black board to stop the light bouncing off towards the model in order to achieve a darker back. This portrait, was a bit easier to achieve as we wanted a darker background and established that we only needed one main spotlight, and it was more to do with the angle of the camera in order to achieve the little bit of shadow on the side of the models face. Lastly, with this image it was similar to the black and white portrait above (second one above) in the terms of lighting, the only difference was that the background was darker which meant the exposure of the lighting was darker.
Here are the pictures we did not decide to show – due to how over exposed and underexposed as well as not great angles
This image was under exposed and, landscape which is not what I wanted to achieve. This image, the lighting was mainly focusing on the background and not so much on the models face.
