The homework from that session was to research some producers/ films we have recently watched. Whilst researching producers the top or best producers were male( majority of the time and only a few female) which interested me as I had no idea about this fact.

A few examples of producers I researched

Peter Jackson – director and producer, mostly well known for the lord of the rings trilogy, I have always admired the battle scenes and felt he has the angles shot in them were like no others I have seen before.

Gurinder Chadha- Gurinder Chadha, OBE is an English film director of Indian origin. Most of her films explore the lives of Indians living in England. The common theme among her work showcases the trials of Indian women living in England and how they must reconcile their converging traditional and modern cultures. I admire her films such as bend it like Beckham, Bride and prejudice and Angus thongs and perfect snogging, as I can relate to them which is why all these films are so popular as they relate to the audience.

Quentin Tarantino – Quentin Jerome Tarantino is an American filmmaker and actor. His films are characterised by nonlinear storylines, aesthetics of violence, extended scenes of dialogue, ensemble casts, references to popular culture and a wide variety of other films, soundtracks primarily containing songs and score pieces from the 1960’s to the 1980s, alternate history, and features of Neo-noir film. My favourite films that he has directed/ produced are pulp fiction, kill bill and once upon a time in Hollywood, because they enjoyable to watch and immersive you cannot look a way.

A short film I like “Let It Be” is an independent, small budget short film that explores the themes of death, loss and love by Bertie Gilbert I liked how it was shot it felt more connected to this short films then I do towards bug movies, I liked how the themes of life and death were portrayed as well as using the band The Beatles into to.

Recent films I have watched are uncut gems which I have been waiting for since the Safdie brothers released their film Good time, I am a massive fan of them and I found that this film was amazing and so intense and different to other movie plots ( such as the plot is unpredictable) which is why the brothers are so admired. I really enjoyed their camera angles and shots, they used a lot of close ups and the actual film was almost like it had a grain affect, as well as their weird but interesting soundtracks, which of course made me enjoy it even more.

Queen and slim, was the most recent film I watched in cinemas and I really gravitated towards and like the characters within and when you like the characters this much, you expect and hope that everything will turn out for the best, right till the very end. I loved the shots within this film they really concentrated/ focused on the characters facial expressions and body language as well as including a lot of shots to do with the landscape.
